Health and safety in construction
Health and safety compliance is critical for everyone. A working environment that is intolerant of unsafe working practices and non-compliance leads to a culture of safe working, which benefits everyone.
The key legislation relating to health and safety is the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act passed in 1974. The Act and associated legislation enabled regulations to:
- secure the health, safety and welfare of people at work
- protect others against risks to health and safety arising from work activities and
- control dangerous substances.
Implementation of the legislation, regulations and/or associated Approved Codes of Practice (ACoPs), and industry best practice, along with application of current knowledge and interpretation of statistics, should provide both an informed and compliant working environment.
