RICS HomeBuyer Service

The RICS HomeBuyer Service can now be offered with or without a valuation.

RICS HomeBuyer Report (Survey & Valuation), 5th edition

This professional statement (PS) accompanies the RICS HomeBuyer (Survey & Valuation) Service, which includes a valuation.

The PS and accompanying documentation set out mandatory requirements and best practice guidelines for members carrying out an RICS HomeBuyer (Survey & Valuation) Service.

If a client does not require a valuation as part of the standard service, they should be advised to commission an RICS HomeBuyer (Survey) Service.

This PS applies in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

RICS HomeBuyer Report (Survey), 1st edition: This professional statement (PS) accompanies the RICS HomeBuyer (Survey) Service which does not include a valuation.

The PS and accompanying documentation sets out mandatory requirements and best practice guidelines for members carrying out an RICS HomeBuyer (Survey) Service.

If a client requires a valuation as part of the standard service, they should be advised to commission an RICS HomeBuyer (Survey & Valuation) Service, which can only be undertaken by a surveyor who is a member of the RICS Valuer Registration Scheme.

This PS applies in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

Although both of the above professional statements are effective from 12 September 2016, there will be a transitional period for members to familiarise themselves with the documentation. RICS Professional Groups team have confirmed that based on market feedback, RICS will be extending the transition period for the new HomeBuyer Report until further notice. During this time, both the old and new formats of the report will be acceptable.

RICS HomeBuyer Report 2011 practice note Scotland was published in December 2011 and is still in effect.
