Biography

Vivien King trained as a solicitor and practiced in the City of London for many years until she retired from partnership in 2003. She had become one of the best known property litigators in the English property market, a PACT arbitrator and a member of Arbrix. She was awarded honorary membership of RICS in 2003.

Vivien continued to practice part time as a consultant to a firm of solicitors for many years after her retirement and holds a part time consultancy with the highly regarded commercial building consultancy, Malcolm Hollis.

Vivien has lectured part time at various academic establishments including the College of Law and Westminster University and was for some years a visiting lecturer at the College of Estate Management. She has been a member of RICS working parties, writes a regular column for the RICS Building surveying journal and sits on the editorial panel for the RICS Property journal and for PLC Property. She is a frequent contributor to various property publications including Estates Gazette, Access by Design and the Company Secretary’s Handbook.

Vivien established Hatherleigh Training in 2007 specialising in property law. She lectures, teaches and conducts property litigation workshops for solicitors and surveyors.
