Spring/summer 2021

As part of RICS' response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the built environment, each isurv channel has moved to a rolling update cycle to ensure content is as up to date as possible. This page will be updated with new updates to reflect the changing situation as it develops.

Brownfield developments

Author Jamie Mills has thoroughly updated this section, including relating to the NPPF, the Environment Bill and government housing policy and future planning.

Climate change: adaptation and mitigation

The main update to this section is the inclusion of information regarding the London Plan 2021.

Ecological considerations

Author Dr Rachel Saunders has included a number of updates, the most major of which can be found in Legislation, planning and advice and discusses the impact of Brexit on environmental legislation.

ISO 14001 and environmental management systems

This section has been updated to include new material in Monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation.

ISO 50001 and energy management

David Inman has updated his section with regards to energy policy.

The circular economy

This section has new material relating to the impact of Brexit and the European Commission's Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP).

Sustainable procurement

This section has been updated throughout, particularly with regard to changes to building regulations and a section on the CIPS Corporate Ethics Register.

Waste management

Author Gregory Borne has provided further updates in his section on the post-Brexit situation as it becomes clearer.
