Environmental insurance

Surveyors should be aware of insurance liabilities for their clients, their own and their clients' other advisers' environmental liabilities. Increased liabilities have led to a significant increase in the range of environmental insurance policies. They have also led to a growing gap in cover for environmental liabilities in public liability and other policies.

There are several major types of environmental insurance policy that surveyors may wish to advise their clients to purchase: property transfer policies and operational risk policies.
