Risk management on conservation projects

It is in the undertaking of projects that some of the biggest investments are made into historic and traditional buildings and this is also when the most major interventions take place. With all this in mind, we should be aware that this can bring about potential risks concerning the work itself, with possibly irreversible effects on the building. We should also consider whether the financial investment made is a sound one.

If risks are to be minimised, a robust approach to risk management is necessary not just during the procurement and implementation stages of a project, but also during numerous preceding stages such as the initial building survey and analysis of any defects.
