Biography

Susan has over 30 years of experience within the construction industry, and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She has held senior positions within both contracting organisations and private practice, in the UK and overseas. Susan is highly experienced in contract administration and commercial management, and over the last 15 years has specialised in the preparation and defence of claims, advising and assisting clients in matters associated with quantum and delay on a diverse range of commercial, public-sector and private projects.

Susan regularly manages complex disputes, acting as party representative in adjudication and providing expert evidence to tribunals on a broad range of matters, including valuation of works, variations, final account, loss and expense, delay and prolongation, acceleration, contract interpretation and professional negligence. While active in numerous adjudications and other forms of ADR, Susan considers negotiation to be the first stage of any contentious matter and has successfully negotiated settlements ahead of any formal tribunal.

Susan is an active member of the RICS and an advocate for the profession. She was the technical author of the Graduate Level Apprenticeship for the Built Environment and regularly lectures and provides training on topics including New Rules of Measurement, procurement and professional ethics. Susan remains both a mentor and assessor and chair for RICS APC candidates.
