Mathias Cheung is a barrister at Atkin Chambers. He was called to the bar in 2015 and has extensive experience in construction litigation, adjudication and arbitration, including international arbitrations on projects based in the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and South America. He is regularly instructed by employers, contractors and construction professionals in high-value and complex construction and engineering disputes.

Some of his notable cases include a four-week arbitration regarding the design and construction of an off-shore oil rig, a successful five-week High Court trial on the design and construction of a waste-to-energy plant (Energy Works (Hull) Ltd v MW High Tech Projects UK Ltd & Ors [2022] EWHC 3275 (TCC)), and a successful Part 8 hearing on the scope of design responsibility under an amended JCT Design and Build Contract (Workman Properties Ltd v Adi Building And Refurbishment Ltd [2024] EWHC 2627 (TCC)).
