Matthew Smith MRICS is a chartered surveyor and valuer, with many years’ private practice experience working in valuation, development and investment appraisal, agency, insolvency and compulsory purchase. He moved into education in 1997, and had a long association with the University College of Estate Management as an Associate Tutor before joining UCEM full-time in 2021, where he is now the Programme Leader of the BSc (Hons) Real Estate Management degree.
In addition to designing and running CPD and specialist bespoke courses for a number of real estate businesses, Matthew has contributed to textbooks, training manuals and research. He has won several awards for his teaching excellence and student support, and was nominated for the Times Higher Education Most Innovative Teacher of the Year award.
