Alison Farrar is Operations Manager at the National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team (NTSELAT), having joined the team from Anglesey Trading Standards where she worked for 15 years. Before this, she ran a bakery and managed an independent designer wear business.

She is joint Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) Lead Officer for Property and Lettings, and has been Lead Officer for Consumer Education for 12 years. As part of this role, she attended the Select Committee for the Tenant Fees Act 2019 at the House of Commons.  Alison was lead on communications for Trading Standards Wales for 10 years, is a regular on BBC1’s Defenders UK, and has worked on national and regional projects such as National Consumer Week and Scams Awareness Month. She is an executive member of the Consumer Empowerment Alliance and a member of the Consumer Codes Approval Panel, as well as being Vice Chair of the Welsh branch of CTSI.

As part of her work at NTSELAT, she manages the investigations conducted by the team as well as contributing to policy work and specialist projects. She has worked with the team to produce webinars and guidance for the industry, as well as presenting at conferences and representing the team on the ROPA Code of Practice working group. Alison delivers training on behalf of the team in partnership with industry partners such as Rightmove, Propertymark and Rent Smart Wales.
