Biography

Andrew Thompson is the Course Leader of the Anglia Ruskin University BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying, and is currently undertaking his DProf research investigating housing fitness standards. 

Andrew has a broad qualification background as a chartered building surveyor, chartered environmental surveyor, and chartered safety and health practitioner. These skills assist him in assessing safety design and risk assessment issues. 

He joined ARU in January 2019, having previously been a Director, Building & Projects, at Savills UK. He became a qualified Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1999 and achieved Fellowship in 2011. He has a Masters Degree in Environmental Decision Making (via the Safety Health & Environmental SHE pathway). This provided CMIOSH status in 2004 and CEnv in 2006. 

He was elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors in 2014. Andrew holds a PgCert in Teaching & Learning and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
