Building defects database - Water damage

Record details

A commercial building suffered deep-seated water damage, where basins overflowing over a prolonged period heavily soaked a thick, old, masonry wall. Plasters were not removed - that would have caused too much dust and disturbance. The wall proved slow to dry, so was tented. This focused drying on one particular wet building element. One dedicated dehumidifier operated within a temporary plastic sheet tent, compartmentalising the wet wall.
