Summary

A tenant's notice to determine was served on the managing agents of the landlord. The managing agents were held out as charged with the management of the property and therefore, in the view of the judge, there was a general agency. In determining the validity of the notice, he was of the opinion that a managing agent would have, among other things, general authority to receive notices relating to the property and receive them in their own name, following Townsends Carriers Ltd v Pfizer Ltd.
