Summary

A long-standing resident of a village sought to challenge the grant of permission for a large housing development nearby. She was opposed to any housing whatsoever, but based on her challenge on matters in which she had no personal interest, such as the alleged failure to consider new policies on affordable housing.

Nevertheless the Court of Appeal were of the opinion that she was not a mere meddler but had a real and genuine interest in seeking to prevent substantial development and must be able to present her challenge on all available grounds.
