Summary
The appellant had what amounted to a yearly licence to promote motor vehicle and motor cycle events on an old airfield. The licensee had spent a considerable amount of money on landscaping and car parking. The Court of Appeal held that 'interested in the land' in this context does not mean merely having a legal interest in the land. A substantial right, such as this licence, entitled the appellant to compensation.
