Summary

The architect was engaged to supervise the repainting of a seaside hotel and had wide experience of seaside conditions. The paint began to flake off prematurely because the wood surface had not been properly prepared for the painting. It was found that the architect failed sufficiently to supervise the works, as in the circumstances he should have given particular attention to this aspect of the job.
