The agreement of the final account and the final statement under clause 30.8.1 of the 1981 JCT WCD was conclusive evidence as to the contractor's compliance with the contract, in respect of both patent and latent defects and compliance with statutory requirements concerning materials and workmanship. However, the clause was not wide enough so as to cover the contractor's responsibility for design.
