James McTighe MRICS has more than 18 years' valuation experience in both the public and private sector. Since 2001, his work has focused on Central London. During this time, he has advised on some of the largest buildings and estates in the City. James joined JLL in 2006 and is the Director in charge of the Central London valuation team. The team advises a wide range of clients including banks, property companies, property funds and equity investors. Valuations are undertaken for a wide variety of purposes including loan security, purchase, performance monitoring and strategic advice.

Giles Smith MRICS qualified as a chartered building surveyor in 1989, but soon crossed over into residential valuation, gaining experience of working in smaller firms, as well as larger corporate environments. He is a Registered Valuer, and also retains a strong interest in building technology, regularly providing technical and policy advice to clients in his current position as Chief Surveyor and Technical Director for SDL Surveying, a Nottingham-based national surveying company specialising in lender valuation work.

Giles is involved with several industry and RICS committees, including the Cross Industry Residential Valuation Forum, and the Valuer and Lender Liaison Group, as well as presenting on the RICS CPD circuit.
