Biography

Kevin Thomas is a chartered building surveyor who having graduated from Salford University trained with British Rail Property Board before joining Lambert Smith Hampton and then Colliers Stewart Newiss. He joined Northumbria University in 1992 where he led the Department of Architecture and Built Environment. He recently joined Teesside University where he has responsibility for the development of international education opportunities for their built environment, engineering, and science related programmes. He has a master’s degree in Commercial Property Law and a Doctorate in Business.

He is a member of the RICS Building Surveying Professional Group Board, a member of the RICS North East Regional Board and an executive committee member of the Council of Heads of Built Environment. He is currently an external examiner at University College of Estate Management, and Hong Kong College of Technology. His academic interests are around maintenance and its relationship to building information modelling and he is on the Editorial Advisory Board for The International Journal of Building Pathology and Adaptation.
