Biography

EUR ING Ian Draycott BEng, CEng, FICE is an independent consulting civil engineer. He has 30 years of diverse experience in civil and structural engineering including buildings, access, temporary works and bridges.

Ian’s previous roles have included being part of Halton Borough Council’s project team for the procurement of the Mersey Gateway project – a £600m infrastructure project including a major new crossing of the river Mersey. He was also a regional Structures Advisor for the Highways Agency in Manchester, dealing with Technical Approvals and other highway structure matters.

His structural design work has included an arched bridge across the River Weaver in Cheshire, the Sir Thomas Fairfax Bridge. This won the national Concrete Society Award for Best Civil Engineering Project in 2004.

His varied experience also includes the design and installation of moving lightweight aluminium gantries used on the construction of major bridges in the UK and Hong Kong.
