Building defects database - Penetrating dampness: mould

Record details

Mould development of the type usually associated with a condensation problem, but in this case due to moisture penetrating via a defective roof. Differences in the wall colour (lower left) indicate the extent of moisture staining, though frustratingly this is frequently more apparent in photographs than on site. Pulling to the wallpaper suggests localised differential movement. Is this related to the dampness (a cause, or an effect) or unrelated?
