Summary

Valuers acting for the claimant mortgage lender negligently overvalued a basement flat; solicitors advising on the same purchase negligently failed to ensure that the mortgage included the lease of a car parking space for the benefit of the flat. It was held that, in all the circumstances, the 2 defendants should share the claimant's loss equally; a contribution of 50% would be 'just and equitable'.
