Biography

Ralph Burkinshaw FRICS PGCHE started his career in the 1970s in private practice building surveying in London. Later he qualified in brickwork and spent many years as a self-employed building contractor – carrying out both refurbishment and new works. He subsequently became a Senior Lecturer in building surveying at South Bank University. Ralph has written and researched extensively on damp diagnosis and conservation – with (to date) two books published through RICS Books and a range of technical papers. Ralph has also run home inspector training seminars for SAVA. He now works as an Indendent Dampness Consultant and travels the UK diagnosing damp problems and advising on remedy. Commissions are from private individuals, surveyors, architectural practices, housing groups and charities, as well as local authorities.
