Surveyors' Construction Handbook: Pre-contract Cost Planning and Cost Management

The Surveyors' Construction Handbook is out of print and is available on isurv for information purposes only. Any questions relating to its status and application should be addressed to the RICS QS and construction professional group.

Control of costs can only be achieved by the actions of the whole project team, including the client. The quantity surveyor's role is to facilitate the design process by systematic application of cost criteria so as to maintain a sensible and economic relationship between cost, quality, utility and appearance which thus helps in achieving the client's requirements within the agreed budget.
