Physical infrastructure

Physical infrastructure (non-environmental)

At overview level, infrastructure can be broadly divided into physical projects and those that are energy or environment-related in nature. Physical infrastructure projects can be further subdivided into transport (roads, rail networks, waterways, etc.) and telecommunications networks.

This section acts as a general introduction to physical infrastructure and considers the ways in which infrastructure can be provided, including the role of the public and private sectors. It also touches on funding and assets, the importance of identifying stakeholders and briefly the role of the chartered surveyor.

This section should be read in conjunction with others that introduce infrastructure (most obviously What is infrastructure?). Each page provides links to main sources and other areas of isurv where readers can find more detail.
