JCT Standard Building Contract

JCT Standard Building Contract

Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) contracts accounted for almost 80% of the contracts used in construction projects in 2007 (RICS survey). They are the standard suite of contracts for construction works in the UK and offer the security of tried and tested wording developed over years of use.

The Standard Building Contract is suitable for use with a traditional method of procurement where the design is completed before the tendering process begins. It can be used in conjunction with JCT Standard Building Sub-Contract.

A professional team including, for example, an architect, structural engineer, and M&E engineer, will design the project. The contract administrator will supervise the works and provide sufficient design information to allow the contractor to carry out and complete the works.

JCT contracts are changing in 2016. This isurv section will be updated accordingly.
