Autumn/Winter 2020-21 update

As part of RICS' response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the built environment, each isurv channel has moved to a rolling update cycle to ensure content is as up to date as possible. This page will be updated with new updates to reflect the changing situation as it develops.

Key concepts in sustainability

Author James Tinkler has comprehensively updated this section to include a number of recent developments as the UK government brings forward their plans to go carbon neutral.

Climate change: adaptation and mitigation

This section has also seen a very comprehensive overhaul, with Identifying, assessing and minimising the risks in particular including a wealth of new material.

Commissioning environmental assessments

There is a lot of new material here, most notably Land contamination issuesEnvironmental liabilityFlood risk issues and Environmental investigations for development/redevelopment projects, plus new subsections on Environmental lawyers and Environmental insurers.

Contaminated land

New authors Alex Egan and Gareth Owen have overhauled this entire section, with new information throughout.

In this update, there is information on the updates to the National Planning Policy FrameworkThe current political climate and Funding, among other changes.
