Comparable evidence is now available for online consultation

Tuesday, 22nd March 2011

A new RICS draft guidance note, Comparable evidence, authored by Paul Batho, is now available on our online consultation platform iConsult.

Given the importance of comparable evidence in the valuation process it is perhaps surprising that its use has not previously been formally documented. This draft guidance note outlines the process of identifying comparable evidence, analysing it and applying it to the property that is to be valued.  It illustrates how comparable evidence is therefore fundamental to producing an accurate valuation that can stand scrutiny not only from the client, but also from the market and the courts.

Comparable evidence was produced collaboratively across several key RICS Professional Groups: Commercial, Residential, Rural and Valuation.

The consultation is now available for review and comment until 15 April 2011. RICS members are encouraged to read the brief guidance on commenting effectively, which can be found at the top of the consultations homepage.
