Residential property licensing

Residential property licensing, especially of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), can be problematic for agents and landlords. There are serious penalties for landlords and agents who do not manage HMOs and other licensed properties correctly and therefore a clear understanding of the licensing categories is essential. This section explains how to identify HMOs, the requirements for licensing them and the sanctions for non-compliance with the law.
